Firo Vázquez and Almudena Grandes receive the Natural and Essential Award, respectively, at the Paper Values ​​Awards 2018


The Jury of the fourth edition of the Values ​​of Paper Awards has unanimously decided to grant Firo Vázquez with the Natural Award for having managed to combine gastronomy and literature with the Edible Papers, pioneers in world gastronomy, using paper - a natural product - as raw material, decorative element and culinary technique. Firo Vázquez, owner and chef of the restaurant El Olivar in Moratalla, received the National Award for Hospitality - Innovation FEHR in 2014 and is the author of several books. El Olivar has 2 Repsol Suns, prizes awarded annually by the Royal Spanish Academy of Gastronomy.


And also unanimously they have decided to award the Essential Award to Almudena Grandes for her fundamental contribution to Spanish literature throughout her career as a novelist, in which she has also distinguished himself for her defense of the book - those books that change our lives - and the praise of the library as a house of literature, books and readers.

The IV Values ​​of Paper Awards will take place on March 6, 2018 in the Auditorium 400 of the Reina Sofia National Museum in Madrid, as part of the annual Paper Forum event.


The National Library of Spain receives the Valuable Prize, for its tireless work of book and reading promotion and its status as "book house", which retains copies of all published in Spain in any medium. The institution also posts all periodicals published as magazines and newspapers, sound and audiovisual works and the archive of the Spanish website. In addition to collecting and safeguarding the bibliographic heritage, the BNE has an invaluable collection of manuscripts, incunabula, maps, prints, engravings, photographs, scores and drawings, among other documents.

The Renewable Award goes to Elena Lobera García and Alejandra Amusquívar as young promises called to renew the packaging design in cardboard, with works such as The Universal Box, finalist in the Pro Carton International Award for young designers.

Mahou San Miguel receives the Innovative Award for the graphic campaign of Mahou Barrica, a novel sensorial campaign in lifestyle magazines, in which the reader, interacting with the paper, could feel the touch and smell of the barrel.
